Raw sheep wool is classified as organic waste or as an animal by-product that must be collected and processed by authorized institutions. In practice, however, a significant amount of wool is illegally dumped in nature or even burned, which poses an environmental burden.Sheep wool contains keratin and lanolin, both rich sources of organic nutrients that can partially replace organic fertilizers. Due to these properties, wool is a promising raw material for use in gardening, agriculture, and crop production. In this study, we examined the process of producing pellets from sheep wool and their potential applications. We first determined the basic physical properties of the raw wool, such as moisture content and bulk density, and then prepared it appropriately for further processing. Pellets were produced from finely and coarsely ground wool, as well as from mixtures of ground wool and beech sawdust. The produced pellets were tested for moisture content, mechanical durability, bulk density, and pellet density.We found that pellet production is successful when the wool is properly prepared (ground). Pelletizing sheep wool significantly simplifies handling, storage, and application of this otherwise waste material, opening up new opportunities for its sustainable use in agriculture.
