This master's thesis explores the possibilities of incorporating documentary theatre into the teaching of Slovenian literature at the grammar school level. In the theoretical part of this thesis, I focus on theatre and the school context. I present the importance of culture-art education and theatre pedagogy. Next, I analyse the grammar school syllabus for Slovenian courses in greater detail, focusing on the presence of drama and theatre within it. I conclude that pupils often encounter canonical theatre plays and performances: contemporary theatre practices are rarely discussed, even though they could contribute to the education of a cultivated reader or spectator. I identify documentary theatre as a promising approach, as it has gained particular prominence in recent years. Then, I define documentary theatre, present its main features, and describe its occurence in the context of Slovenian theatre. In the practical part of this thesis, I analyse four Slovenian documentary performances, which could be discussed in secondary schools. The chosen plays are Človek v morju (Man Overboard), deklici (little women), Anhovo (Anhovo), and Boško in Admira (Boško and Admira). Each of them transforms documentary material into a unique theatrical event. We observe the personal testimony of a survivor, the autobiographical experience of a young playwright, the tragic history of a Slovenian community, and the intimate story of a couple, which acquired an international dimension due to media treatment. Based on the analyses of the selected performances I develop lesson plans with preparation and reflection activities. They include interaction patterns, teaching methods, lesson aims, and the course of didactic communication.
