This bachelor’s thesis addresses the transport of live animals, presenting both
Slovenian and European legislation. It also covers legal frameworks related to
different transport sectors, including road, maritime, and rail transport.
The introductory part provides a brief historical overview, describing the development
of animal transport over time and the reasons behind the evolution of legislation in
this field.
The second part focuses on Slovenian and European laws and regulations governing
the transport of animals, which were examined in depth as part of this thesis.
The third part explores the transport of animals across various sectors, addressing
the frequently raised question of the consistency of legislation and its implementation
in practice. This issue is further illustrated through a concrete case study.
The aim of this thesis is to present, in a clear and comprehensive manner, the
legislative framework governing animal transport in Slovenia and across Europe. It
also seeks to highlight the challenges encountered in practice and to propose several
constructive solutions based on the reviewed literature. An overview of the legislation
is essential for the analysis and interpretation of case law, which represents the core
of this thesis.
