Šentrupert is facing demographic change, the decline of its historic core, and the deterioration of part of its building stock. At the same time, the settlement lacks quality public spaces and central community programs that could strengthen social cohesion. Despite its rich cultural heritage and valuable natural setting, its development potential remain underutilized. The settlement developed around the Church of St. Rupert, its main spatial and identity landmark. With the relocation of commercial and social functions to the outskirts, the square surrounding the church gradually lost its role as a social center and became primarily a traffic and parking area. In time, many surrounding buildings became vacant or underused, contributing to the decline of the town center. The proposed revitalization reactivates the historic core through the introduction of community-oriented programs, including an intergenerational cultural center and a marketplace. The square is redesigned as a pedestrian-friendly public space, while vacant buildings are renovated and adapted for housing. By combining public programs, housing, and improved open spaces, the project seeks to restore the vitality of the town center and strengthen its social, cultural, and spatial role within the settlement.
