When people first came into contact with different metals, they began searching for ways to improve their properties. By combining copper with zinc, they created brass, and later they developed steel from iron. This enabled the production of higher-quality tools and ultimately faster progress. Today, we know many different alloyed steels, each designed for a specific purpose. Through various heat treatments, it is possible to give the same steel different characteristics, such as hardness, toughness, and more. In this thesis, we fabricated samples of two types of laminated steels and subjected them to various heat treatment processes. These samples were then tested and their results compared to determine the optimal heat treatment.
