This thesis addresses the issue of bag storage in the home and in public spaces. The main
aspects addressed are daily use, long-term storage, organisation and the psychological chara
cteristics of users and their needs. Based on a theoretical inventory of the big five personality
traits and bag storage systems, I investigated the relationship between personality types and
home organization. Through an analysis of bags, common materials used to make them and
interviews, I identified specific storage needs that vary according to each type of bag. Spatial
analysis, storage and disposal habits, the importance of aesthetics and durability of the bags
were carried out by means of surveys.
Based on the data collected, I designed a modular storage solution for the bags. The compo
nents of the modular storage system itself can be inserted into existing Ikea cabinets, so that
they do not encroach on the space. For storage in public spaces, I have designed a simple,
functional solution that reflects a sense of security. The proposed solutions follow the prin
ciples of modularity, sustainability, ergonomics, user experience and address users' everyday
problems with the organisation of personal items.
