Adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines that include recommendations for physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep, is crucial for maintaining and enhancing health. This paper aimed to review the literature on the associations between meeting 24-hour movement guidelines and socio-demographic factors in the adult population. After reviewing 746 hits from three scientific literature databases (Pub-Med, Scopus, and Web of Science), we included 18 articles reporting research conducted in North, Central, South America and Asia. Overall, the studies show that younger adults, men, the more educated, married, those with higher socio-economic status, and white people are more likely to meet 24-hour movement guidelines. Future studies should give more attention to investigating the socio-demographic factors associated with not meeting any of the recommendations within the guidelines, as these groups are at the highest risk of poorer health. There is also a lack of research conducted in Europe.
