This master’s thesis examines the development of logistics processes and digital support in micro enterprises and their role in managing business growth. The purpose of the research was to determine how growth affects business and logistics processes in micro enterprises, what role digital support plays in this context, and which adjustments enable more stable and transparent growth. The theoretical part is based on a review of the literature in the fields of logistics, business process management, organizational challenges of micro enterprises, and digital transformation. The main focus is on process maturity, standardization, the transparency of material and information flows, and the role of digital solutions in improving logistics efficiency. The literature shows that digitalization in micro enterprises does not function as a substitute for poorly organized processes, but rather as support for sufficiently stable and repeatable processes.
Data were collected using two questionnaires adapted to the characteristics of each company. For Evitas, a structured questionnaire containing closed and open-ended questions was used, while for Galenaro, an adapted questionnaire served as the basis for a structured oral interview with the company’s director. The research showed that business growth does not merely mean a larger volume of operations, but also greater complexity of logistics, organizational, and information flows. In the company with more structured logistics and organizational processes, standardized logistics procedures, a clearer division of work, greater inventory visibility, and more integrated digital support were associated with more effective management of a larger scale of operations. In the less formalized company, processes were more dependent on personal knowledge, direct coordination, and manual coordination.
The key finding of the thesis is that the difference between a more process-structured and a less formalized micro enterprise lies not primarily in the number of digital tools used, but in the degree of organization of business and logistics processes and the extent to which digital support is embedded in their core flows.
