In this master’s thesis, the user experience of the existing platform AFUrnik for viewing and planning schedules was analysed, and based on the findings, a redesigned solution was developed. The purpose of the research was to improve the clarity, usability, and visual design of the system, and to provide users with a more simple and efficient experience.
A combination of different methods was used in the research. First, a survey among 272 users was conducted to gain insight into their habits, needs, and the most common issues when using the platform. Based on the results, the current state was analysed, personas were created, information architecture was designed, and wireframes and a prototype of the redesigned user interface were developed. User experience was evaluated using usage scenarios and the User Experience Questionnaire, we also analysed the accessibility.
The survey results showed that users frequently use the platform, but experience issues mainly related to poor clarity, difficulty in finding information, and inadequate mobile adaptation. The evaluation of user experience revealed significant differences between the existing and the redesigned platform. The redesigned solution achieved substantially better results, as users completed tasks faster, with fewer errors and less effort. It was also perceived as more clear, more intuitive, and better adapted for mobile use. The accessibility analysis identified several shortcomings of the existing platform, while the key accessibility principles were properly addressed in the redesigned prototype.
Based on the results, it was found that the redesigned platform significantly improves user experience, efficiency, and accessibility of the system. All proposed hypotheses were confirmed.
