The purpose of the master’s thesis is the creation of a 360-degree video presenting the fashion concept of the Erasmus+ Me-You-Us project. The three-year international project connected three higher education institutions from Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Denmark. One of the outcomes of the project was the design and visualization of virtual garments and avatars. The aim of the thesis is to conduct a detailed study of the process of creating a virtual fashion exhibition of avatars and fashion creations developed within the project, with an emphasis on the use of a 360-degree camera. Three avatar models were selected and presented in different 3D environments.
The theoretical part covers topics such as 3D computer graphics, interactivity, immersion, virtual reality, virtual fashion, and virtual exhibitions. At the end of the theoretical section, the Erasmus+ Me-You-Us project is presented.
In the experimental part, we followed the video production pipeline, which includes pre-production, modeling, texturing, lighting, scene setup, rendering, and post-production in Blender, and examined the advantages of using a 360-degree camera for capturing content and creating an immersive experience. We investigated and documented the process of creating a fashion exhibition and tested rendering performance using optimized and non-optimized models. Particular attention was also paid to the positioning of environmental elements in relation to the avatar.
The result of the thesis is the creation of a realistic and aesthetically refined virtual exhibition of three fashion creations from the Erasmus+ Me-You-Us project using a 360-degree camera, enabling an engaging, dynamic and accessible user experience.
