Naslov:The sse of ICT in Slovene and English language teaching
Izvleček:
The master’s thesis examines the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Slovene and English language teaching in Slovenian grammar schools, focusing on the frequency of ICT use, students’ and teachers’ attitudes toward ICT, and its impact on motivation. In the theoretical part, the concepts of ICT and digital competence are first defined, followed by an overview of digital initiatives in the Slovenian education system. The discussion then focuses on didactic aspects related to teaching and learning with ICT and presents the results of both earlier and more recent domestic and international research on ICT use in education. From the perspective of the formal integration of ICT into teaching, older curricula for Slovene and English are compared with the revised versions. The theoretical part concludes with an overview of specific ICT tools designed to support language education, ranging from language portals to artificial intelligence tools. The master’s thesis examines the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Slovene and English language teaching in Slovenian grammar schools, focusing on the frequency of ICT use, students’ and teachers’ attitudes toward ICT, and its impact on motivation. The theoretical part concludes with an overview of specific ICT tools designed to support language education, ranging from language portals to artificial intelligence tools. The empirical part presents the results of a quantitative study conducted on a non-representative sample of teachers and students from selected Slovenian grammar schools. The findings indicate that the use of ICT in both subjects is less frequent in practice than suggested by guidelines and previous research, and that ICT itself does not function as a strong motivational factor.
