The purpose of this master’s thesis was to develop an e-handbook with video materials to serve as a comprehensive didactic tool for physical education teachers in primary schools when planning and delivering handball content. The starting point of the work was the finding that teachers face numerous challenges when teaching handball, including a lack of confidence in demonstrating technical elements and limited material resources in schools. The present work attempts to address these challenges through video demonstrations and the use of only basic equipment available at every school.
In the theoretical part, a descriptive method was used to present the professional foundations of the game of handball, the rules of the game with adaptations for the school environment, mini handball, different forms of handball, an analysis of the Slovenian physical education curriculum with a comparison of foreign curricula, and didactic guidelines for teaching handball.
In the practical part, an e-handbook was developed, comprising a collection of handball games, demonstrations of technical elements of handball, and exercises for motor development. All content is supplemented with video recordings. The content is structured according to the principle from easier to more difficult. Detailed descriptions of tasks were provided, including the definition of age categories, placement of tasks within individual parts of a training unit, defined objectives, and possible variations and adaptations of tasks.
The e-handbook represents a practical tool that enables teachers to deliver higher quality handball content while contributing to greater inclusion of handball in the physical education programme in primary school.
