Researchers into the life and work of the Slovene Jesuit Marko Anton Kappus (1657-1717) who ventured to the New World in 1687 as part of the project of Christianisation taken on by the Society of Jesus and who remained there until the end of his life, have so far studied the valuable parts of his correspondence preserved in the archives of Slovenia, Mexico and Rome. This contribution aims to highlight thirty-one yet unpublished letters, acquired from the Mexican archives, that make it possible to assemble interesting fragments on the last ten years of Kappusʼ service "at the end of the world" and provide a broader context in which the conquest of Mexico took place.
