This dataset contains anonymized cross-sectional data collected from 654 community-dwelling older adults (≥60 years) in Slovenia. The data were generated within observational studies focused on sarcopenia classification and skeletal muscle characteristics.
The dataset includes demographic variables (age, sex), anthropometric measurements, and indicators of muscle strength, physical performance, and body composition. Muscle strength was assessed using handgrip strength and the five-times sit-to-stand test. Physical performance measures include gait speed and the timed up-and-go test. Body composition and muscle mass parameters were obtained using bioelectrical impedance analysis, including fat-free mass, skeletal muscle mass, appendicular skeletal muscle mass, and height-adjusted indices.
Skeletal muscle contractile properties were assessed using tensiomyography of three lower-limb muscles, providing parameters of delay time, contraction time, radial displacement, and contraction velocity. Additional variables include nutritional status (Mini Nutritional Assessment), physical activity and sedentary behavior (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire), and cognitive function (Trail Making Tests A and B).
Participants were classified according to multiple sarcopenia diagnostic algorithms (EWGSOP, EWGSOP2 variants, SDOC, IWGS, and FNIH). Data were collected using standardized measurement protocols, anonymized, and structured with accompanying metadata to support reuse in accordance with FAIR principles.
