This master's thesis focuses on the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, which began with the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and reached its peak with the large-scale invasion in 2022. The research analyzes its impact on the European Union and the roles of the United States of America and China. The study adopts an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating aspects of international relations, geopolitics, security, and economics. The aim of the thesis is to explore how the conflict affects the European security framework, energy policy, and the EU’s internal political cohesion. Special attention is given to the role of the USA in strengthening NATO's defense capabilities and in providing diplomatic and economic support to Ukraine. China, within the context of the conflict, takes a neutral yet calculated position, thereby reinforcing its strategic interests in the Eurasian space, particularly through economic cooperation with Russia. The European Union has responded to the war events with unified political, security, and economic measures, including sanctions against Russia and assistance to Ukraine. The conflict has highlighted the need for greater strategic autonomy within the EU and has exposed internal disagreements among member states. The thesis also offers an overview of diplomatic options and future scenarios, aiming to identify practical pathways for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The conclusions contribute to a better understanding of contemporary security challenges and the strategic balance in the interactions between the West, Russia, and China.
