In the theoretical part of the thesis, I defined fairy tales and described their characteristics based on the work of Dragica Haramija (2012). I then presented folk and authorial fairy tales along with their specific features. In the chapter on children's literature, I described what elements fairy tales should include to capture a child's attention and best support the development of their abilities. The importance of illustrations is also addressed, focusing on their role for children and their function in accompanying fairy tales.
I presented the reading, emotional, and moral development of children, for which fairy tales are among the key elements for encouraging growth in these areas.
In the analytical part of the thesis, I presented all the authorial and folk fairy tales published in the 2024 issues of Cicido magazine. I compared the number of authorial and folk tales and selected two of each for detailed analysis. First, I briefly summarized all four fairy tales and included images of the pages from Cicido magazine where these tales appeared. This was followed by an analysis based on Vladimir Propp's structuralist theory and Max Lüthi's literary theory. I then outlined the findings from the analyses and made two comparisons between the selected fairy tales. Finally, I presented the conclusions from the perspective of child development and provided a closing summary.
