Logistician selection problem in the maritime sector using the multi-criteria decision-making methods

Izvleček
Logistics processes are particularly important in the functioning of any company, organization, or state institution. It can be said that the whole economy and society are dependent on adequately designed logistics operations. Therefore, logistics professionals, often named logisticians, with adequate skills and experience, are respected and demanded in the labor market. This paper proposes a multi-criteria decision-making approach for personnel selection in the maritime sector. In the real-world case study, we illustrate the implementation of the proposed methodology for selecting the most appropriate logistician. We applied the combined FullEX-ARAS method. To obtain the criteria weights, we used the FullEX, characterized by collecting answers from experts and considering the expert reputation through years of experience and education degrees. For the final ranking of candidates, we applied the ARAS method. In this procedure, five evaluation criteria were considered for solving the concrete problem: Analytical and organizational skills, Years of experience in logistics, Language skills, Interpersonal skills, and Flexibility. The proposed approach proved its applicability and ranked the candidates who applied for the position of logistician in a maritime company, suggesting to a decision-maker which choice is the most appropriate.
