This master’s thesis examines mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in logistics, with a particular focus on the current acquisition of DB Schenker by DSV. The introductory part presents the development of transport sectors and the importance of M&A as a tool for growth and for strengthening the competitive position in the global market. The central part analyses DSV and DB Schenker, their history, business models, and development. The comparison highlights the differences and similarities that can be leveraged in the integration process. A SWOT analysis is conducted for the Slovenian market, where the merger creates opportunities to strengthen Slovenia’s logistical role as an important hub in the region, while also bringing risks related to regulation, competition, and macroeconomic uncertainties. The thesis concludes that the success of the merger depends not only on financial outcomes, but above all on the ability to integrate, digitalise, and develop sustainably, which are key factors for future competitiveness in logistics.
