Master's thesis was created as an attempt, following research already carried out abroad, to gain an initial insight into the professional work of police personnel in the field of abuse of prostitution and human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, with the assumption of the influence of our own attitudes towards a certain topic. The main task of the master's thesis is to find out whether and how the personal opinions of police personnel affect their professional work. We can not deny that Slovenian society is patriarchal, and that we have all been exposed to its ideology and the imperatives of "natural" functioning of both sexes through our upbringing, education, and participation in other spheres of society. Considering this, and taking into account the masculinization of the police profession, we may soon run into the risk of insufficient treatment of crimes in the areas of abuse of prostitution and human trafficking. In the master's thesis, I review the basic social science debates of prostitution and human trafficking, review the short historical course of both phenomena, current legal regulations, analyze why and how patriarchal ideology can affect police work. Through the survey, I review the situation in Slovenian police and conclude the results by evaluating hypotheses.
