The concept of sustainable development has become a major guiding principle of European policies in recent decades, as EU countries strive to improve both the living standard of their citizens and the quality of environment. The adaptation of the European Green Deal has given greater impetus for its implementation, which is also visible at the local level. The thesis presents the development projects implemented by the Municipality of Rogatec between 2014 and 2024, organized and presented according to the key policy areas of European Green Deal. The financial value of the projects in the study reflects the key interest of the local government in realization of sustainable development. The projects were assigned a level of action in addition to the field, which gave a clearer idea of their impact and operation. It was concluded, that the finances have been unevenly distributed among the key areas of European green deal, conditioned by the capacities and needs of the municipality. Most investments are therefore dictated towards new construction and renovation of buildings with better energy efficiency, construction of sewerage network and improvement of water treatment systems. Among the areas that received investments over the 11-year period, the shift to sustainable and smart mobility received the smallest share. No project addressed the areas of supplying clean, affordable and secure energy and from »Farm to Fork«: designing a fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly food system, therefore those areas did not receive any investment. Projects were mostly financed from the municipality's own budgetary resources. With completed projects, the municipality is now only setting up the foundations for a more sustainable future in the following years.
