In my bachelor's thesis, I aim to describe the relationship between fire and human ancestors. First, I will describe the key points in human evolution and the environment in which fire first appeared. I will present the main elements of fire-procurement myths and the ideas of early scientists on human fire acquisition. After this, I will focus on the archaeological methods of researching anthropogenic fire and what those can tell us about the use and significance of fire for early humans in Africa, Asia and Europe. I will shed light on Wrangham's cooked food hypothesis and some common arguments for and against it. This thesis aims to outline what archaeology can tell us about the early anthropogenic use of fire and how it influenced human evolution.
