Ancient Salona, today's Solin in Croatia, is a city that flourished during the Roman and Late Antique time. At first, this area was inhabited by Illyrians, the presence of Greeks is also noticeable. The Romans declared it a colony in the 1st century BC. In my thesis, I will present all the periods of the settlement and the remains of the main buildings of the Roman town, such as the forum, port, baths, walls, aqueduct, necropoleis etc. I will continue displaying the emergence of Christianity in the 3rd century and its gradual expansion. I will also present the main Early Christian buildings that were built during this time, such as the episcopal complex, numerous basilicas and cemeteries.
