The thesis analyzes two authors. Graham Greene (1904–1991) and his novel The Power and the Glory, and our slovenian writer Alojz Rebula (1924–2018) and his work Nokturno za Primorsko. I analyzed both protagonists from the perspective of the sinner and the saint. The task is designed theoretically and analytically. First, I described the lives of both authors. Then I tried to define who is the sinner and who is the saint, according to the biblical tradition. I delved into the theory of Catholic literature and tried to describe the Catholic novel. In doing so, I relied on theorists such as George Lukács, Thomas Woodman, and Northrop Frye. Then I described the restoration of both novels and their historical background. I linked the findings from the theoretical part to both novels and determined whether the main characters are saints or sinners. Finally, I focused on comparative assessment. I was interested in the similarities and differences between the two novels and the possible influence of Greene on the younger Rebula.
