Satire is a distinctive literary form that uses mockery to address social, moral, political, and cultural flaws, attempting to expose and correct them, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of society through criticism. The theoretical and historical overview offers a detailed explanation of satire, presents its classification, and situates it within both world and Slovenian literature. The review of authors who have shaped the development of satire in Slovenia since the 19th century, their subjects of criticism, and frequent satirical motifs also includes Janez Menart, a Slovenian poet of the second half of the 20th century. The thesis examines satire in Menart's poetic works through an analysis of selected pieces from the poetry collection Menjave. The purpose of the thesis is to demonstrate how the poet offers a comprehensive critique of the modern individual and all aspects of his existence. Accordingly, the satirical poems are thematically categorized as political, social and moral, or literary.
