The thesis is focused on researching trading cards. These cards can be of different types, ranging from classic playing cards to cards with special motifs and illustrations. The study will explore their history, defining the key events, and pinpoint the common features of some particularly popular cards. We will also provide a brief overview of the psychology of collecting and why rare things tend to be more desired. This will be the basis for determining why these cards are so popular and what gives them their aesthetic and market value. The theoretical research will be applied in the practical part of the thesis in which we will create a collection or trading cards based on Chinese mythology.
