Children’s playgrounds are an important component of public space, as they support the development of children's motor and social skills while contributing to the quality of life in urban environments. The aim of this master's thesis was to categorize playgrounds located within three district communities of the City Municipality of Ljubljana (Jarše, Bežigrad, and Center), taking into account the needs of both children and adults. The analysis included both the quantity and type of equipment as well as the spatial context, including accessibility, solar exposure, and proximity to public infrastructure. The research was based on a combination of field surveys and spatial analyses using QGIS and ArcGIS Pro. In the field, playgrounds were evaluated using a standardized form that recorded the number and types of elements. The desktop component included an analysis of solar radiation, and the distance from playgrounds to the nearest public transport stops and public toilets. The results are presented in the form of maps, tables, and graphs. The findings reveal considerable variability in equipment and accessibility, emphasizing the need for more structured and user-oriented management of playgrounds in the urban environment.
