The diploma thesis is presenting the Brkini area during World War II, when selected villages found themselves under Italian and then, after its capitulation, under German occupation. After the end of World War I, the people of Brkini found themselves under new authority and remained under it until the beginning and end of World War II. Under the pressure of the occupation, the locals organized a resistance, which is why they were later punished towards the end of World War II by their villages being burnt. Many people lost their homes and lives during the revenge of the occupying forces. The diploma thesis thus attempts to present the methods and paths of resistance of the Brkini and coastal partisans during world war II (members of the national liberation struggle), the life of the people in the Brkini villages at that time, the testimonies of older citizens and, last but not least, the course of the burning down of the Brkini villages.
