POVZETEK Cilj naloge je izdelava projekta in potrditev z ustrezno verifikacijo lahke strukture rečne potniške ladje z uporabo visoko legiranega jekla. V nalogi je obravnavano dimenzioniranje strukture lahke rečne potniške ladje in primerjano s težo strukture ladje, projektirane z do sedaj ustaljeno prakso. V drugem delu naloge so v uvodu opisani in definirani cilji naloge.

Naslov:DESIGN OF A LIGHT STRUCTURE PASSENGER RIVER SHIP
Izvleček:
The main scope of this thesis is the development of the project and verification of the river passenger ship light structure with the use of high tensile steel. Into the thesis is performed the river passenger ship light structure scantling and compared with the weight of the structure designed with the actual practice. Till now the structures were built from normal steel and have higher draft. In the first part of the thesis has been performed the investigation of actual state of art of passenger river ships with a particular attention put on the structural material of till now designed passenger ships. In the second part are described and defined the main goals. In the first step is performed the research and acquisition of available documentation and rules, that are necessary and are used for the ship structure scantling definition. There are evaluated different options of classification societies as Bureau of Shipping, Bureau of Veritas, Registro Italiano Navale, Det Norske Veritas in Lloyd Register, and at the end Lloyd Register has been selected. This Classification Society has been selected as most qualified for the design and scantling seagoing and inland passenger ships. During the structural design of passenger ship the hull is divided in three parts: aft, midship and fore area. Due to this division also the thesis is based on the same principle. In the first phase the midship section scantling design is performed as these structural elements in the most significant and represent all the most structural elements whole hull design in 0,5L length. It will be calculated the scantling of each element that contribute to longitudinal and transverse strength of the river ship. After the midship section has been defined it has been studied and calculated all the structural elements inside the 0,5L ship length. The aft and fore structure scantlings that are less significant for the investigated thematics are not performed. These areas can be part of the further research and thesis in the future. In order to perform the scantling of the deck supporting structure based on complexity as the transversal and longitudinal girders structure are framed and supported by pillars, it is decided to use Final Element Method for the calculations of stresses and deflections. Is it not the main scope of this thesis to explain and develop although it is useful used in this work of this methodology can more investigate in the future research works. The results of deflection and stresses obtained with Finite Element Method calculation are compared with the permissible values defined by Lloyd Register Rules. vii In the last chapter it is performed the analyses of the obtained results and based on this is are prepared recommendations for the future researches of the light structure of inland river passenger ships.
