Introduction: Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of regular and unprotected sexual intercourse. The World Health Organization has classified infertility as a global, social and health problem, as the number of infertile women is increasing. Infertility has profound psychological effects on sexual function, especially in women, as sexual intercourse is accompanied by a feeling of fear, and if it becomes violent, it can cause reduced sexual desire and other sexual disorders. Due to the inability to conceive, women are prone to stigmatization, increased risk of domestic violence, divorce, anxiety, depression and social isolation. This is precisely why they need professional help and support in the treatment process and in the event of treatment failure. The approach should be empathetic, as empathy is a major part of therapeutic communication, nursing care and women's satisfaction. Establishing nursing diagnoses according to the NANDA-I classification is the way in which registered nurses deal with human responses to health problems or life processes. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to examine the impact of infertility on the psychosocial life of women and to establish nursing diagnoses using the NANDA-I classification. Methods: A descriptive method of work was used, with a review of professional and scientific literature in the field of infertility among women around the world and its impact on the psychosocial life of women. For the search, we used the CINAHL Ultimate, PubMed and Google Scholar databases and the EBSCOhost and NLH search engines. The European Journal of Nursing and Midwifery was also used. Freely accessible articles, in full text, in the English language were included. The literature search was limited to publications between 2014 and 2024. Nursing diagnoses were made using the NANDA-I classification. Results: Depending on the symptoms of infertility, the following nursing diagnoses are possible in the psychophysical area: Hopelessness, Chronic low self-esteem, Ineffective partner relationships, Sexual dysfunction, and Danger of impotence. Discussion and conclusion: Infertility as a medical condition has a major impact on all areas of a woman's life. Lack of understanding from a partner and/or family can cause various psychological distress, guilt and shame, which is why many hide their infertility and do not seek help. At this point, help and an empathetic approach from nurses are key to establishing trust and the right approach to help overcome distress and cope with the outcomes of infertility treatment. Nurses are greatly assisted in treating women with infertility by the NANDA-I nursing diagnoses, which help them more easily establish a nursing diagnosis, which is key to treating and resolving the problem.
