The thesis presents the development of a shape-memory structure in honeycomb form for ballistic protection purposes. The main objective was to design a structure that undergoes deformation under load, such as impact or compression testing, and returns to its original shape due to temperature-induced recovery, thus allowing it to be reused. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the typical honeycomb shape and the properties of PLA material. The mechanical properties depend on the element’s printing orientation and the types of loads applied during sample testing. The practical part outlines the complete development process of the structure, from the initial sketch to the final model, including additive manufacturing of the samples, simulations in the Abaqus software, and finally, real-life testing and analysis. The results reveal how the structure behaves under compressive loading and the extent to which it recovers its original shape.
