The thesis explores practical value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for Slovenian construction companies during the construction execution phase of a project. It provides insight into the benefits, challenges and development opportunities of BIM within the Slovenian construction sector. The first part of the thesis covers the theoretical foundations of BIM, its historical development, BIM maturity levels, global trends and international application of BIM, as well as general standards and guidelines. It also outlines the theoretical advantages BIM offers during the execution of construction projects. The second part presents the findings of a survey conducted via an online questionnaire, targeted at employees in construction companies. The goal is to assess to what extent BIM contributes to the improvement of construction processes, and to analyse how Slovenian companies are utilizing its potential, along with the challenges they face in its implementation and use.
