The master's thesis presents methodological approaches in verse studies, namely in its historical development and in relation to literary theory, linguistics, sociology, psychology, and other scientific fields. Each theoretical section is followed by an empirical part in which methodological approaches are applied to a specific phenomenon in Slovenian verse. The aim of the thesis is to present various historical methodological approaches that have not been widely used in the Slovenian literary history tradition, while also highlighting the latest methods in the field of verse studies. The thesis thus provides an overview of literary-theoretical methods for studying verse, ranging from comparative versology, through Russian formalism and structural poetics, to empirical and cognitive literary studies, and finally to quantitative and computer-assisted methods.
