Initiation ─ the transmission of a spiritual influence and commitment to a traditional organization ─ as understood by René Guénon, is and has always been the only way for man to discover immortality and the eternal truth, and beyond that, realization of higher states of being and, ultimately, total and supreme realization which lies beyond Being ─ all this in the midst of a world ruled by death and delusion. Finding a genuine and authentic initiation remains a challenge in today's world due to increased exposure to profane influences, or worse ─ pseudo-initiation and counter-initiation, which lead nowhere, and yet deceive many who would otherwise be suitable candidates for initiation. A return to tradition, where a spiritual transmission is preserved ─ the only thing which guarantees a genuine initiatic transmission ─ is thus of crucial importance, and the only way to escape the dangers and achieve at least salvation, if not supreme knowledge.
