The camera obscura is not only a historical predecessor of today's camera, but also an exceptionally effective tool for the experimental research into the properties of light. The master's thesis deals with the integration of the camera obscura into the elementary school education, particularly in the context of physics and as part of an extended curriculum. It describes in detail the construction and use of three different models of the camera obscura, including activities for pupils. The focus is on how the experimental use of this device can not only improve understanding of optical phenomena, such as the rectilinear propagation of light and image formation, but also stimulate the scientific curiosity in pupils.
