The master's thesis entitled “The translation of humour in audiovisual texts: an example of the show Todo porque rías by Argentine comedians Les Luthiers” aims to investigate the process of translating humour from Spanish into Slovenian. I was interested in how humour is transferred from one language to another, what translation strategies are used, and whether the humour is preserved in translation. At the beginning of the thesis, I presented the theoretical foundations that help understand the context and translate humour in audiovisual works. The theoretical section presents the research of some of the most important authors who have written on the subject. As part of this thesis, I transcribed the play and analysed the types of jokes it contains. I also translated the play. The main obstacles and solutions used in translation were presented for each type of humour separately. A special chapter is dedicated to the translation of songs. This work makes a valuable contribution to the study of humour translation in audiovisual works. It focuses on the translation techniques employed and the solutions found for the obstacles encountered during the translation process.
