Coming back to playing after an injury is a significant issue in the world of professional musicians, most likely affecting every single one of them. Many do not recognize or address their difficulties, and over time, the condition may worsen to the point where playing an instrument—in our case, the cello—is no longer possible. The aim of this thesis is to present a holistic approach of a cellist’s return to playing after an injury. A successful rehabilitation case is presented through several key themes: self-awareness, collaboration with a healthcare team, engagement in physical and cognitive training, and finally, the return to instrumental performance. After treatment, it is essential to apply the knowledge gained during rehabilitation and to establish preventive measures for the future. With this contribution, we aim to shed light on this often-overlooked issue, make it more accessible to all musicians, and emphasize the need for timely response and taking correct steps.
