Introduction: The hip joint is one of the major joints in the human body, enabling movement, providing stability, and bearing body weight. Due to constant load, it is susceptible to conditions such as osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis, fractures, and femoroacetabular impingement syndrome. Radiological diagnostics—including X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound play a crucial role in detecting these disorders and planning appropriate treatment. Purpose: The aim of this thesis is to highlight the role of radiological technology in detecting hip joint diseases and injuries and to compare the diagnostic value of individual methods. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using descriptive methodology. Articles were searched in PubMed, ScienceDirect, Radiopaedia, DiKUL, and RUL. The search was limited to free-access literature in English and Slovenian, published in the last ten years. Results: A total of 23 relevant sources were included. The selected literature includes reviews and clinical studies from various countries, addressing different hip pathologies and comparing imaging techniques. Discussion and conclusion: Radiological imaging is essential in diagnosing hip disorders. X-ray is the primary and most accessible method, useful for identifying bone abnormalities. CT is mainly applied in treatment planning and for evaluating complex bone structures. MRI is the most sensitive method for detecting early-stage and hidden changes. Given the higher radiation dose in CT and the cost and duration of MRI, the choice of imaging should depend on clinical presentation and patient suitability.
