After the Russian attack on Ukraine, a number of evidence has emerged indicating Russian force atrocities against the Ukrainian population. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24th February 2022, the world public was shocked by the articles in the world media and reports from various organisations that enlightened the war crimes, particularly in the city of Bucha near Kiev, which has become a symbol of the atrocities committed by the Russian force. Sexual violence is one of the exposed war crimes and the topic of this thesis. Conflict-related sexual violence appears in various forms and with different objectives. The main questions of this thesis is whether there is any evidence on sexual violence in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict and what are the cause and the meaning of this violence. The analysis of the cases of sexual violence is particularly important for understanding the effects and consequences on victims, Ukrainian society and on the conflict itself. Analysing reports, publications, articles and research showed, that sexual violence in the Ukraine-Russia War is used as a weapon the in the war; it is used systematically as a part of the Russian military strategy and a tactic to dehumanise the opponent.
