In my master's thesis, we examined how people in Slovenia consumed daily news during the pandemic. We focused on how this changed from 2020 to 2023 and how the newspaper Delo reported on these changes. We examined how the media consumption at Delo changed, how it adapted to these changes, and what measures it took to remain financially sustainable. As a result of the pandemic, many readers have begun using digital editions of newspapers instead of print versions. These shifts have changed the way people access information. It has also altered the way news outlets operate. To understand the changes and how Delo responded, we interviewed people from the newspaper Delo. They shared their thoughts on the changes from various perspectives. The interviews showed that Delo responded to the changed situation by switching to a digital subscription model, developing new content formats, and adapting its technical infrastructure to the needs of its users. They have created custom subscription packages, expanded their offerings to meet the needs of different groups of readers, and focused on providing more value and personalization for the user experience. Despite the growing use of the internet, newspapers continue to play an important role in the media landscape. Delo's experience shows that the long-term sustainability of media organizations relies on consistent strategic decisions, readiness to embrace new technologies, long-term relationships with readers, and a resilient and sustainable business model.
