The thesis Connecting the Kindergarten with the Local Cultural and Artistic Society: Folklore Activities examines the importance of connecting the kindergarten with the local environment and learning about cultural heritage. Kindergartens play a key role in familiarizing children with the social environment, local culture, and cultural heritage. The role of the educator is also crucial, as they plan and guide the activities. The Kindergarten Curriculum emphasizes collaboration with the environment as a valuable learning resource, which strengthens the sense of belonging and community cohesion. Cultural and artistic associations significantly contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage, while folklore activities introduce children to traditional dance, music, and clothing heritage. In the theoretical part, I presented the importance of the kindergarten’s cooperation with the environment and the local cultural association. In the empirical part, I conducted four activities with children to explore their perceptions of folklore activities and determine how a visit from the association’s members contributes to learning about folklore, and what new knowledge the children acquired.
