The rapid development of information and communication technology (hereafter ICT) in the field of education has changed traditional forms of learning and teaching by emphasising active and collaborative forms of learning and the use of multimedia, and has opened up new possibilities for the use of blended learning in music education. In the theoretical part, the characteristics of violin teaching are presented. We have emphasised the role of the teacher as a facilitator and implementer of the learning process in relation to the principles of violin playing and elements of violin didactics. The beginnings of ICT integration in the educational process and the use of ICT in music teaching are emphasised. We have presented innovative approaches to the use of resources and activities using e-learning materials in e-learning environments that support effective teaching and connected learning of violin through ICT and extend and enhance violin playing in meaningful ways. We have introduced ICT in group and individual lessons and explored the use of ICT in different learning styles. The placement of ICT in different didactic phases according to the modalities of the perceptual systems was emphasised by influencing the articulation of the learning process. We have emphasised multimedia learning and gamification as enrichment of violin playing with ICT. The empirical part presents the results of a two-part study conducted in the 2019/2020 school year. The aim of the study is to explore a contemporary model of violin teaching based on the mutual interaction of traditional and modern blended learning approaches supported by ICT. In the first, quantitative part of the study, we analysed string teachers' attitudes towards the use of ICT and thus assessed the position and role of modern teaching tools in the pedagogical practise of string teaching. In the multiple case study, the second qualitative part of the research, we analysed a contemporary model of violin teaching. We investigated in which phases of the learning process modern approaches using ICT as a learning tool in the e-learning environment can usefully and effectively enhance the learning process according to the SAMR reference model. The first study showed that teachers mostly stick to traditional approaches and rarely use ICT in the evaluation of learning. We found that teachers have not yet recognised the potential of ICT in the different didactic phases. In another study, we found that ICT promotes students' progress and the development of their musical skills, which facilitates the continuation of lessons and the improvement of violin playing skills.
