The diploma thesis Fashion collection entitled Hyper Reality Tea Party presents the research and design process that led to the creation of a contemporary fashion collection, fusing Japanese pop culture with modern digital technology. The goal of the project was to create an original collection that uses digital tools to blur the line between reality and virtuality, injecting playfulness, experimentation, and conceptuality into contemporary fashion.
The theoretical part includes research on Vocaloid technology, a digital method for voice synthesis and the creation of virtual musical identities, along with the "Lolita" subculture that draws inspiration from Victorian fashion and Japanese aesthetics. Attention is directed to the intersection of these two visually and culturally contrasting phenomena and the potential they offer as a starting point for design exploration.
The experimental part involves the development of a non-binary collection of clothing silhouettes that blend the visual characteristics of Lolita aesthetics with contemporary technological approaches. The collection explores the combinations of girlish nostalgia and a digital future through the use of advanced tools such as 3D design, digital printing, artificial intelligence, and projection. The design process focuses on material experimentation, garment construction and visual language, where classic motifs, such as teacups, lace details, and voluminous silhouettes, are reinterpreted in a modern, conceptually colored expression.
Throughout the creation of the collection, emphasis was placed on finding a balance between the real presence of clothes and their digital presentation. The use of projections, digital patterns, and light-based effects blurs the line between the real and the virtual, which makes us think about fashion's role in a time of augmented reality. Conceptually, this collection examines what "reality" means in today's fashion world and how it is made using modern tools and tech resources.
The diploma thesis thus opens up space for reflection on the importance of contemporary fashion as a multidisciplinary medium that merges aesthetics, technology, and culture, while encouraging new forms of expression, interpretation, and stylization in the digital age.
