Companies need to continuously improve their assembly processes to remain successful in the marketplace. They do this by adopting a lean manufacturing approach, which includes a variety of methods designed to increase efficiency and reduce waste. One of these methods is Value Stream Mapping (VSM), which is considered one of the key tools for continuous improvement. The thesis focuses on the selection of the most appropriate tool for the implementation of digital value stream analysis as one of the key approaches of lean manufacturing. Using the example of a product assembly process from the Smart Factory Demonstration Centre, value stream analyses were performed using Lucidchart, Minitab Workspace and SimVsm. We defined nine benchmarks to map the features and user experience of each software. Our analysis showed significant differences in the categories describing the ease of use and the scope (breadth) of the analysis produced.
