In the final thesis, the development of a plastic foundation intended for insertion into the Anton Žnideršič beehive is presented. The Anton Žnideršič or AŽ hive is a type of beehive that is primarily known in Slovenia. The introduction presents the theoretical background and a literature review in the field of beekeeping and materials. The process of manufacturing and using traditional wax foundations is described. The findings related to the production process and usage are presented as a comparison with plastic foundations.
In the product design chapter, key parameters affecting the production of the plastic foundation are defined and calculated. Their impact on production efficiency and product functionality in practice is analyzed. Two different design options for the foundation are presented, with the most promising solution selected during the development process.
In addition to selecting the optimal shape, key development aspects are also discussed, such as the sizing of the foundation cells, the choice of suitable material, recyclability, and environmental impact. Based on these findings, a structural solution for the optimized product was developed. The conclusion also includes an economic analysis of the project implementation costs.
