In this master's thesis, we focused on artistic creation from waste materials, particularly packaging, paper, and textiles.
In the theoretical part, we defined, presented, and analysed the word waste. Significant attention was also given to sustainable development and promoting material reuse.
We divided the empirical part into four segments. We wanted to gain an insight into the current situation in our schools; therefore, we surveyed Slovene school teachers. In addition, we visited one of the Slovene primary schools, where we interviewed the headmaster, the head of school nutrition, who simultaneously acts as a representative of the ECO committee, the kitchen manager, and an art teacher. We were also interested in the experts’ perspective on the practice, which is why we headed to the National Institute of Public Health to obtain their recommendations on waste management. Finally, we wanted to create something of practical value to our future educational practice. We developed a website where we collected and will be collecting ideas on how to become a more environmentally oriented teacher, parent, and finally, student.
