In my master's thesis, I focus on how foreign and immigrant students are included in Slovenian language lessons in the Republic of Slovenia and what activities and didactic aids teachers use. The theoretical part defines the concepts of language, mother tongue, foreign language, second language. The theoretical background of language learning and acquisition is also summarized. We are introduced to the definition of the concept of inclusion and who foreign students are and how they are cared for. The inclusive functioning of the school is also presented. The empirical part of the master's thesis is based on both quantitative and qualitative research. In this part, I rely on answers collected using survey questionnaires and interviews. We collected and analyzed the answers of 146 respondents and 5 interviewees. The sample of respondents is therefore larger and completely random. Through qualitative research (conducted interviews), I determine which aids and activities teachers use and why. We are also interested in where they look for ideas for activities and what they particularly recommend to teachers of foreign students. The sample of interviewed teachers is non-random and purposeful. It includes those teachers who actively encounter the inclusion of foreign students in Slovenian lessons in their classes. With my master's thesis, I want to define the current position of foreign students in Slovenian lessons and create guidelines (examples of good practice) for a more active and successful inclusion of foreign students in Slovenian lessons. Looking at the research questions and factors, I found that only the age and length of service of teachers have a statistically significant effect on certain attitudes, while gender and school district do not have a statistically significant effect. Through interviews, I found that teachers use similar tools and activities and that most of them believe that there are too few materials prepared for the inclusion of foreign students. The respondents also repeatedly highlighted that this is a very pressing and poorly researched topic. With my assignment, I collected activities and tools for including foreign students in Slovenian lessons and highlighted several problems that still arise in relation to this topic.
