Introduction: Teeth are crucial for survival and play a vital role in chewing, speech formation, and appearance. Tooth loss can significantly affect well-being and these three factors. Some individuals experience tooth loss as if they have lost a part of their body, which can lead them to avoid social interactions. This can profoundly impact their mental health, potentially leading to depression. However, tooth loss can be addressed, and missing teeth replaced. Despite this, new challenges may arise after the replacement, as prosthetic substitutes are foreign to the patient and require adjustment. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to present the consequences experienced by patients after losing teeth. The study aims to explore the origins of dental fear, the factors influencing it, and the potential consequences of tooth loss. Furthermore, it investigates the time required for gums to heal, and the duration of patient adjustment to prosthetic care. The study also examines the impact of prosthetics. Methods: In writing this thesis, we focused on a literature review, collecting and analyzing professional sources such as scientific articles, academic journals, and professional books. Literature was sourced from websites like Google Scholar, PubMed, and Medline. Following the literature review, we created a product for a patient who lost all upper teeth due to disease. Results: As part of the thesis, a complete removable denture was created for a patient who had lost all upper teeth due to periodontal disease. The procedure involved tooth extraction, wound healing, the creation of a temporary denture, and eventually a final full denture. The patient initially faced challenges in adapting to the denture, including pain and difficulties with eating, but eventually experienced improved functionality and confidence in wearing the prosthesis. Discussion and conclusion: Dental health is essential for an individual’s physical, psychological, and social well-being. Problems such as tooth loss or fear of dental procedures can significantly affect self-confidence and social interactions. It is crucial for dental professionals to recognize the connection between physical and mental health and provide comprehensive support, including effective treatment and emotional care.
