The master's thesis presents my personal experience as the director of the short animated film "Luknje". What is it like to create your own film? Is it possible to do it alone? Can an illustrator create a successful animated film? How can one learn to present their idea during development, and why is this important? How does film distribution work, and why is it important? I answer all these questions in my thesis.
The film "Luknje" addresses the differences between loneliness and solitude; the idea for the film stems from my own experience. In the master's thesis, I explore the significance of loneliness in the 21st century and share the story that inspired the film. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I discuss the role of the director, explore the definition of animation, and examine the history and various techniques of animation.
In the practical part of the thesis, I delve into the techniques used in the animated film "Luknje", providing a detailed description of the filmmaking process, including pre-production, production, and post-production. I also describe how to effectively pitch your work and how this can help you gain support in production.
