The process of extruding rodent bait is presented, along with proposals for optimisation. Rheological analysis on a rheometer is introduced as a method of bait characterization, with an emphasis on measurement techniques, equipment, and measurement programs that enable a consistent characterization of viscoelastic solids using a plate-plate measuring system. The planning, execution, analysis, and interpretation of results within the framework of DoE are presented without the use of paid DoE software. The results of the rheological analysis, combined with statistical analysis, provide information about the influence of various factors on the rheological properties, enabling control over the bait's properties by adjusting the value of individual variables. Finally, process changes that lead to significant cost reductions and acceleration of production are proposed.
