Background: The duration of hospitalization of cardiology patients is decreasing, necessitating adjustments in early physiotherapy interventions. The aim of this article is to review current existing recommendations regarding early physiotherapy interventions of cardiology patients. Methods: Recommendations for early physiotherapy interventions of cardiology patients were sought according to foreign representative cardiology organizations in Europe and the United States of America. We included only those available recommendations that included early physiotherapy interventions of the cardiology patient. Results: Our review included recommendations from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the European Society of Cardiology, the Royal Dutch Society for Physical Therapy, and the American College of Sports Medicine. We made a concise summary of the four foreign recommendations focusing on fundamental early physiotherapy interventions, progression of physical activity in the hospital setting, and specific considerations. Conclusions: In the review of recommendations, we presented and summarised key information that, in our opinion, is important for the standardisation of the early physiotherapy interventions of cardiac patients in the Slovenian clinical environment. The results of the review showed that for effective and safe physiotherapy treatment, it is important to understand the indications and contraindications for patient inclusion in treatment, to systematically monitor indicators of normal response to exercise, to adhere to conditions for progression of physical activity, and to consider the specificities in various cardiovascular events and interventions.
